I know it's still spring but here at Quilting Arts Magazine we're already working on our annual holiday

re: Making Something New from Something Old

This week I also challengened myself to make something useful from my stash. I had heard about using the phone book pages for paper foundation. So off I went to experimenting and it turned out wonderful. I squared up a phone book page to 8X8 inches. Cut 2 pieces of fabric 9X9 inches. I folded the page on the diagonal from each corner forming an X. Put fabric right sides together and then put folded page on top. I stitched 1/4 inch on each side of X. Then I cut on the fold for 4 triangles and then folded each in half and cut again of the fold. Results are 8 half square triangels, approx 3 5/8". This week I worked then into a pink pinwheel baby quilt and a zigzag border. I'm feeling so thrifty and green.!
