Bloggers and Interweave Authors Open their Studios this Saturday October 3!

2 Oct 2009

Welcome to the Fall 09 Studios Tour!

**Notice: For some reason, not all of the links here will "refresh" to today's new posts with the tours. I am particularly having trouble with blogs on blogspot. I have refreshed, cut and pasted into new lines on this post, triple checked the links, etc. It's frustrating, and I'm still trying to figure it out. But I'm a writer editor/not an html expert!

However, I wouldn't want you to miss any great studios, so please, if you are visiting one of the links here and you don't see a tour, refresh your browser or copy the url in a new window to access the tour (and remember, some of these studios are in other parts of the world than yours, so their tour may not be up yet). If your blog is not going to the right place, please leave a comment with the correct link below; that way, people can see it and I will update it as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience and cooperation! ~ Cate**

From Germany to Mexico to Canada and all over the US, quilters and mixed-media artists will be offering you a glimpse into their studio spaces this weekend as part of our Open Studio Virtual Online Tour. I have been to the sites listed below, and believe me, you are in for a treat. Not just because of the creative spaces, but because of the inspiring art you will find there.

Here is the list of "stops" on the tour, in the order they were posted here. If you are among the first 25, please send me your address at, and I'll send you your door prize! Be sure to see the special Interweave Author Studios, also listed below.

By the way, a special thanks to Jenn Mason, whose studio graces our cover. She not only let us come in and take over her house for a day while we shot the picture, but wrote a terrific article that tells you everything you need to know about hosting a real-live Open Studios event. Read it in the Fall issue of Cloth Paper Scissors Studios, on sale now.

Also, be sure to check out these Interweave authors' blogs tomorrow during our virtual Open Studios tour! They'll be showing off their unique creative spaces and home studios, as well as some of the new designs their working on now. There's a wide range of crafts represented here, from knitting, crochet and spinning to jewelry-making, contemporary sewing and mixed-media. Please stop by their blogs anytime tomorrow, October 3, and say hello during this first (and hopefully annual) Interweave author Open Studios event!

A lot of the author links go to Microsoft exchange, but not the blog. Do the links not become live until tomorrow?

All the links should be going to the blogs. I've checked them. However, a lot of people aren't posting until tomorrow, which is the day the tour begins.

Thanks for this opportunity, although I could not be of the top 25 for the award, but I would like to buy your magazine, I'm Mexican, remember, as I do?

Hi Cate - My blog link: does not go to my blog. There are also other authors whose blog links don't go to their blogs. Is it my browser? Other links do work, so I'm not sure what's up!

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry for the technical difficulties some of you are having. When I test all the links, they all go to the blogs they are supposed to go to. I don't know what's up the the Microsoft Exchange thing. It's frustrating for me, too! As for any folks whose link got missed or who say their blog address is wrong, I will be stopping in all weekend to try to fix any problems. These studios and artists are all too good to miss. Thanks for your patience.

I've had such a great time this morning/early afternoon checking out all the different studios on the tour. I'm all kinds of inspired now, and thinking about tweaks and changes I can make to make my space work better for me and to personalize it more. Kudos to Cate for putting this together, and to everyone for sharing their spaces!

It appears that the link I posted [10/2] to my blog was incorrect; consequently, my blog didn't make the list, either. Here's the correct link and I hope you can add. Thanks. I think this is a fun idea and I'm enjoying the tour.

Being in a different part of the world (NZ) I took the tour on Sunday. And guess what it rained all day and I didn't mind a bit. I sat in a comfy chair with my laptop and had such a great time visiting studios all over the world. My husband asked me every now which country I was in.

Thank you so much for putting it all together. It was such an inspiration to see all the different ways people work. I especially liked the messy ones, more like my own workspace!

What a wonderful concept and the weather couldn't have been better on the North East for a day of touring (Rainy, mucky and cold)! I loved all the differences and art and beautiful things. This should be a regular seasonal posting!

What fun there was to be had this weekend visiting all the studios!  Thank you so much Cate for organizing the tour.  I know it's been a tremendous amount of work for you and your team, and I want you to know how much I have enjoyed it all.  I still have a few left to visit and have added several to my RSS feed so I can continue to explore their blogs.  Thanks everybody...I had a blast!

Mea culpa.

Received my Door Prize the other day! It's one of those Decorative Wall Hardware kits.  I just saw these last week as I was shopping online during a JoAnn Fabrics Sale, and put them on my Wants & Needs list.  Thank you, Cate!  Many Blessings
