I have been repeatedly told throughout my internship, and
now more recently with my new position as an assistant editor, that I am one
lucky girl to be working at Quilting Arts
Magazine. And don’t I know it!
I can’t think of a better place to cultivate inspiration for quilting (and crafting of all sorts). With new
ideas, submissions, and art constantly coming into the office, it is all but
impossible not to be inspired to go home and try new techniques. I grew up in Stow, the location
of the editorial
headquarters of Quilting Arts Magazine
and Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, and
my first real job was as an office assistant here. I have worked summers at Quilting Arts for
years, and every
summer I was inspired to pick up a new craft. In 2009, while attending my first International Quilt
Festival I was bitten by the quilting bug and haven’t looked back.
Now that I am full time at Quilting Arts (!!!) I am thrilled
to be even more involved with the goings-on here. Next week I will be attending the International Quilt Festival
in Houston and I can’t wait to see what everyone has been up to! The art at
these shows is absolutely astounding, and I am always amazed by the new
techniques that people come up with.
We are working on several special publications in addition
to our regular magazine. Right now I am most excited about the next issue of
our digital eMag, Quilting Arts in
Stitches, which is an interactive publication full of videos, pictures, and
tons of cool, interactive features.
More on this soon!
In addition to our publications, there are a lot of new, fun,
interactive activities being worked on right now. I am particularly excited about the “Facebook Fan of the
week” that will be starting this
Sunday.
Each week we are going to ask Quilting Arts Facebook fans to share a
link to one of their blog posts. At the end of the week we will pick a winner
and they will be announced (and featured) on our Facebook page, as well as
briefly interviewed by me; the interview will be posted on this blog. So get your blog posts ready to share
for a chance to become the first Facebook fan of the week!
I just want to thank everyone for their warm welcome into
the Quilting Arts community, and can’t wait to share the latest Quilting Arts
news with you!
