Quilting Arts TV Series 700 DVD winner! (And help with the next giveaway)

7 Jan 2011

I have randomly selected a winner and want to extend my congratulations to...

PJMOCKIT!  PJ, please email lmurray@interweave.com to claim your Quilting Arts TV DVD set!

I find it funny what PJ wrote:

My quilting memory is of several ladies gathered around my grandma's kitchen table, talking and hand-quilting. I overheard someone say later that my grandma was never satisfied with one of the ladies stitches, and after she would leave, Grandma would rip out her sewing and re-do it.

OK, I'm going to be offering another giveaway this weekend and I have a couple of questions for you:

1) What would you like me to giveaway?

2) What question would you like to answer, or what responses from others would be most interesting for you to read?

In the meantime, here's another one of my funny Quilting Arts memories--taking the dogs to work!

Pokey-made fabric is always especially coveted as a give-away. Come to think of it, DVD's are great, too.

Question ideas: What project are you finally going to get around to doing this year? Or, Do you keep a creative journal? If so, what's it like? Or, where is your favorite place to go for creative inspiration?

I now work in a new office with three partners and we all bring our dogs to work. It's just great. And my shetland has the same reaction when I tell her we are going to work. And I'm having so much fun that I feel the same way when it's time to go to work.

Quetion: What is your best excuse ever to procrastinate and not create?

Gee you can really tell they have been there before!  right up the stairs and waiting for someone with that opposable thumb to open the door!

1) Batiks always batiks or I could use some facial tone fabrics to fill out my efforts at portrait quilts.

2) is quilting on your bucket list in anyway?  As in- "I want to finish that quilt before I die", "use up all of those fabrics", "win a national quilt contest", "get quilts to all my grandkids", etc... or is it just a hobby/ past time, pleasure pursuit? Or both...

Give-aways: a variety of embellishment do-dads.

Question ideas: What do you do to move past a creative desert. That is, when you are stumped for ideas.

Question: How do you imagine quilter's heaven?

Better question:

Quilter's heaven and quilter's hell, is there any difference?

I agree - Pokery (dyed/screen printed) fabric is what I WANT!

What is the most meaningful quilt you've made?

My idea of a great giveaway would be a stash of Pokey's hand printed fabrics (stamped, dyed, embellished) to play with!  So much fun to think about!  Talk about inspiration and motivation!

Which leads me to my question for all:  What can really motivate (or inspire)  you to make a quilted item or a mixed media piece?  What set's the wheels in motion for you?

on 8 Jan 2011 6:17 PM

1. DVDs!!

2. How do you decide how to embellish your Art Quilt after the quilting is completed...

1.) I'd love for you to give away colorful and unique fibers.

2.) When making your art quilts are you very concerned with things like even stitches, straight sewing lines, corners matching up, etc.? Or is the design more important to you?

Fabric or QA dvds...

Question most wanted to be asked:  What motivates you to get in their and quilt?

The next giveaway could be just a bunch of fabric, notions and ephemera.

The question is how to keep the intensity going year after year.
