Hi,My last trip to a Quilt Show was in June to the Sydney Quilt show at Darling Harbour.I have been to local art exhibitions with my Daughtre Nicole Bridges who is a Professional quilter as well as being a creative artistic person. I went to the Quilt Show at The Petaluma Public Library... they had them on the walls and hanging from the rafters~so beautiful!

I attended the Quilt Festival in Lowell, MA last year and hoped to make it again this year, but alas, I was out of town.

i can see now that i have missed the deadline by minutes. i only have the internet at work which is 13 miles from my home where on the weekends i use as my creative time and work on projects all weekend long. however, houston is my drug of choice and boy, do i need a fix! i have not been able attend since 2005 and looks like i cannot attend again this year. one year, i took a class with robbi joy eklow and she talked to me after class for 30 min, pointed out that creativity is a personal thing, different for everyone and made me feel like a real quilter. have fun in houston. thanks for asking!

Your vacation sounds lovely in spite of the rocky beginning. Glad you were able to set aside the bad and focus on the good. Watching your ship sail away, literally, must have indeed been humorous. My schedule this year has not allowed me any time for travel or attending shows, but I do wish I could have attended the Art & Soul retreat in VA. Well, there's always next year. :)

Oooohhhh! I haven't been to a Quilt Show yet but I really wanted to go to Houston last year - the teasers in QArts made it all look like fun! I think I would like to go to Houston or back to Art and Soul in Virginia. There are also quilting/art retreats on the east coast, down in Florida, that I would love to make an annual thing for myself.

My 1st ever major quilt show was the one in Long Beach. I was so overwhelmed, I did everything wrong. Not enough pictures, didn't write down any of the booth # that I wanted to go back to,kept getting lost in the vendor area. But I had a fabulous time. I got to meet you, and also met 2 people that I met on their blogs. I will do better at the next one. I would like to go to The Road to California. Glad your vacation ended on a good note.

hi-ya pokey! ;) sorry for the mishap at the beginning of your trip - hate it when that happens!! but so glad to hear it ended wonderfully and was relaxing and fun - you & hubby SOOO deserve it!! ;) now..answer to the question... i attended the Int'l Quilt Festival in Chicago this past spring... ;) and was sad to miss going to the LongBeach show...and also would someday love to attend the Art&Soul retreat... thanks for the fun opportunity with these questions. ;) xo~Leilani

I went to the IQF in Chicago and I would really want to go on some type of art retreat. I think it would be so much fun.

Since I still have children at home, I usually try to go to any local event I can (San Diego). I just attended the National Fiber Arts Exhibit at the Escondido Gallery, which my mother had a piece in. I am a member of Quilt Visions and went to their show in 2006- was a volunteer docent, and plan to do it again for our 2008 show in Oceanside. Quilt Visions will also be having "PLaying with a Full Deck" art quilts on display next month, I can't wait to see that! I always try to go to La Jolla Fiber Arts to see what jaw dropping artists work is on display there. I hope to go to the International Quilt Festival when it comes to Long Beach next July 2009. I have taken two workshops by Jane LaFazio who I think is wonderful and a very inspiring person to know. On my wish list, if I could travel to learn would be Art Fest, Houston- Int. Quilt Festival, Hudson River Valley Art Workshops, Fabrications by Laura Cater-Woods (wow!), Big Sky Retreat....just to name a few! I am out of breath now.... dream on!!!

I was fortunate and attended Art Fest in Washington earlier this year. It was great. I've also attended the Minnesota Quilt Show (awesome) and plan to attend The Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Minneapolis. My dream is to attend the Internation show in Chicago AND to take a vacation similar to yours. How marvelous to escape for awhile.
