I will be giving 15 of these stashes away. My favorite book at the moment is The Quilter's Catalog for the information I have gotten from it.

Probably a little more of the snoozer with chocolate on the side! Rather than the sleeping on deck I see you sketching for your next project! Can't wait to see those projects later in the year.
The art book that inspires me is Positively Postcards by Bonnie Sabel and Louis-Philippe O'Donnell. I used it as a guide when I first started making fabric postcards and now just like to look through it because of the fun postcards and colors.
I love quilting arts!

I think you are off somewhere with beautiful nature surrounding you and inspiring you; relaxing you and recharging you. Hopefully there is also a spa! And a little town close by with a really fabulous little art museum/gallery. I think you brought plenty of art supplies and a journal and camera and your hubby. ;)
I hope you have one of those vacations that bring you back to the real world exhilarated and energized.

I'll email in the title of the book I really love. What a fun little contest. I look forward to your blog posts because they are always fun in different ways. Thanks!

But enjoy yourself wherever you go and whatever you do (or dont't do!)
I always find great inspiration when I peruse "Art Quilts - A celebration" by Lark Books. Another inspirational book is "Nancy Crow" published in 2006. Both are beautiful books.

Chica, I think that you are a combination of both. You are still a California Girl even though you are no longer physically there. I can see you as an island hopping, t-shirt wearing, sandal smacking vacationer. I don't see you doing nothing on the beach for long though. You have the most energy in one person that I have ever seen. I thought I did a lot. At the same time, I can see you playing a rousing game of bingo while munching on some fantastic chocolatey goodness. You may chill for awhile but I cannot see you doing that for long. There are pictures to be taken and things to be explored. Hope John is enjoying his vacation as well. Actually, I think that the two of you are deep in the heart of the Amazon looking for those huge silk spiders that you will use for a new, fabulous line of fabrics. John is carrying industrial strength bug spray. Once you have reached your destination and have gotten your silk quota, you will be sitting by the nearest hut for a nice glass of wine and gourmet meal of crodile meat with native greens. Sorry, squatting on a log sipping 40 year old wine from a hollowed-out coconut shell. Are there coconuts in the Amazon? Okay, tree bark then. I am having too much fun now!

I have my art reference books for technical things. My favorite technical book is The Embroidery Stitch Bible. I am still learning the different type of stitches. Even if I have done it before, I can't remember how to do it again. Love this book. Easy step-by-step instructions and diagrams.

My favorite art book for the moment is the Taking Flight book by Kelly Rae Roberts. Even though I don't draw well. I can substitute other things for that. I love the richness of the backgrounds. I love how she encourages artists to go out of their box and explore. I am sooo like that - encouraging people to go beyond their comfort level.

My absolute favorite book is Mixed Media Explorations by Beryl Taylor. That book has given me so much inspiration and ideas for my own pieces.

Belinda Spiwak - envious that you are on vacation and I am not.

My fave book: Mixed Media Explorations by Beryl Taylor!!! Her attention to detail is incredible and I love her work!

You packed a little clothing but lots of supplies- sun painting on the liddo deck, journaling by the pool, you may play bingo for a while but I bet the used cards end up in a collage. You probably surf more on the internet for cool art quilting stuff than in the cold water. burrr.

Reading Divine Divas by Gail Ellspermann- an awesome new art doll book.

My favorite book is Creating a Life Worth Living by Carol Lloyd. It is a workbook to help creative people figure out their path in life. It changed my life- I opened a craft gallery after reading it and have had a successful 5 years now!
