Many times the needle felting is part of an embellishment, with embroidery and beads as elements on top of that, with the wet felting (larger pieces which I have knit) as the base on which I add stitching (sometimes as part of a quilted layer). I&amp;#39;ve also been incorporating polymer clay into what I am doing -- thinking of it like large flat &amp;quot;beads&amp;quot; -- sewn on. Usually these polymer clay pieces are abstract, rather than a recognizable object. And netting of some kind often goes over some areas, again used more as an embellishment which offers some transparency rather than a true layer as part of the quilting.&lt;/p&gt;
