New to Quilting and Looking for Help...

I have only been quilting for a few weeks now and have already completed a few projects :) . I started working on a quilt for my daughter and had discovered a new technique (well, actually, it was new to me)- applique. Immediately I wanted to try it, but I am really not sure where to begin. I want to applique with my machine. The problem is, I don't understand fusible web, interfacing, stabilizers, etc. Does anyone have any advice for beginners with applique? What ARE the specific tools that I need to begin to machine applique (aside from the obvious like the machine, thread, and fabric lol)? Does anyone know of any good youtube videos or websites that I can look at as well? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Can't find something from show 906

On QuiltingArtsTV show 906 there was a spot with Pokey interview someone from a quilt show who did group quilts on canvas. It's a great activity, and she showed some fun things to do with the cut up and divided quilt pieces. At the end of show Pokey said instructions would be on the web site, but I sure can't find them. Can you help? Thanks.

Water color pencils quilting

I had seen an episode on quilting arts about using water colored pencils to draw and paint your quilt and then embroider outlines. I liked that idea and decided I would try it but I have questions. 1) is there special watercolor pencils for fabric (if so I can't find them)? and 2) is there something to put on it to help it set so it won't wash away when washing quilt? I would hate to do all that work and have it washed away.

I would like to know the paints or dyes used for the sun painting. Yes, I know that Dharma Trading COmpany is a source, but they have many different paints and dyes and just being told go to their website doesn't help.

Why is there no listing of products used? I have no idea of the fusible used in another segment.

If this is the way you "educate, " well, I will become an former viewer. You have no email top even ask a question. Having a list of online troubleshooting is not customer service!

Episode Guide

Looked under "QA TV" tab, but there's nothing about an episode guide. I'm looking for a Season 11 episode guide, a list I can refer to so I can find the episode and episode segment on the DVD without having to read through all my DVD descriptions. Really, you've had episode guides for the first 10 seasons...difficult to find, but I've managed to find them by trolling all over your hard-to-navigate website. Season 11 eludes me. What gives? Aren't we entitled to know the show numbers and descriptions?

Hi, everyone!

I keep buying the DVDs but I get very, very frustrated that there is no searchable guide. I can't find my favorite guests or episodes quickly without pulling out 10 DVDs. Hasn't someone done a searchable spreadsheet or something that can put me out of my misery? Otherwise, they're becoming less and less of a go-to for me because the downloads don't have any sort of episodic recap I find the same issue with the year-long collections of QA mag and CPS mag. I want to find what I want quickly and be able to put it onto my ipad fro travel away from the disks. Help!

I enjoyed your suggestions today about using up what you have and I am trying not to buy any fabric (at least for a while).

My neighbor gave me a bunch of fabric she had purchased and never used and asked me to make quilts or throws from them. I've done several for her, but wht is stumping me are the silky fabrics. I think they are jersey or polyester.

Do you have any suggestions on how to use those?

Ulmer Floor Quilting Frame

I just completed my king size GFG quilt top. I have pin the back, batting and top together and want to start hand quilting. I have a large wooden hoop but find the quilt to be so cumbersome. I am now wondering if I should invest in a small quilting frame.

I have been looking on the internet and came across the Ulmer floor quilting frame. It had good reviews, is sturdy and folds for great storage.

Does anyone have this quilt frame. If so, pros and cons.

DVD vs Video Download

Is there are reason for the newer instructional products being offered as Video Download with no DVD option?

Basically, watching workshops on a computer screen really bites compared to watching it on a TV screen.

The controls for pausing, fast forward, reverse, etc. are far superior on a TV as compared to a computer.

This one may only affect me = I can work on a project while watching a TV (8' to 12' distance) whereas I could not even see the computer screen from that distance.

i have been looking at different choices in quilting as the way i have always done it is with cardboard templates which i cover with fabric, hand stitch together then remove the template, it is something i learnt as i went along and i would like to improve my technique and the correct way to do it as mine does not always look good enough. when i tried to download a free ebook my computer wont let me open the pdf file - well it opens but looks like wordpad, i do have adobe on my pc.

can anyone help?

Hope this is the right place to ask if you can please let digital subscribers know when you change the system and have arrangements in place for them to access their magazines. It is very disappointing when you see the new issue of your magazine is available only to find that you can't access it. I now find I can't even access my account.

Pokey's reversible patchwork bag/tote

I saw an QAtv episode which included a tote by Pokey which was reversible, made with fabric patches/scraps quilted, and used grommets to loop the handle through. I found the directions once, but cannot find them now that I need them. Can you help?
