Why is issue 7 iPad only? Thousands of us don't have an iPad and many, like me, have no tablet or smartphone at all. I'm very disappointed.

In stitches volume 3 still available?

Hi I wanted to download volume 3 of in stitches onto my iPad (in the uk) but only volumes 4,5 and 6 seem to be available. Is it still possible to get volume 3 as I really like the look of the content. Thanks Amanda

New E Magazine In Stitches

HI there

I just received my first e magazine from you and really enjoyed the whole process of reading it.

It was very simple to install, no problems at all.

Being able to see videos, close ups of works, made the techniques very accessible and gave me a real feel for the artist and their work that a print issue can't seem to convey.

I won't give up my print magazines, but I can add a new dimension now.

Thanks for a great product.

I really like the e-magazine especially the instructional videos. They are the important feature that sets the magazine apart from print magazines.

There is also the benefit of having the magazine on my computer instead of stacked by the side of my bed. The downside is it can't go into the "reading room" with me.

Will there be subscriptions available in the future?

Also, it's a little pricey. Would like something more like $9.99 - maybe a subscription could offer a better price.

Hope I am writing in the correct forum. I am in South Africa and subscribing to your magazine by any other method is prohibitively expensive because of postage. I did not see anywhere which allows me to subscribe and receive the magazine in digital format or what this would cost me. Thank you so much for your assistance.

I purchased Quilting Arts in Stitches e-mag back in June and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Was this a one time only effort? Will there be more issues and will we be asked to pay the same amount for each one, or is it like a yearly subscription? What's next?!

When I subscribe to the online magazine ( in which I have) how do I get the next issue? Is it automatically updated, is it sent by email, or do I manually go get it?

Updated version of magazine/size of download cumbersome

I have to agree with Mara in one of the topics in this particular forum. I use broadband where I live and it takes me a l-o-n-g time to download something as large as this magazine. Anyway to simplify this? I received an email concerning an updated version of the emagazine so I attempted to download it last night and failed. I tried again today and it took well over an hour. (I live on a hilltop in the woods near the mountains so I can't get the high speed Internet I long for!) When I looked at the updated version, I honestly could not find the "new stuff" (could you please give me a hint as to where to look for it - I've definitely got the newest version uploaded onto my computer, no doubt there, but it all looks the same as before!). I don't know if I will purchase it again since it is so cumbersome to download, and it is expensive. But I have enjoyed this first issue for sure. Please update your customers if you make any changes to this procedure before we decide to download another issue. Thanks!

I love the magazine, it is fascinating and you did a great job of incorporating many techniques with which to obtain information (websites, videos, slide shows, etc.). I would love to have the option to at least print out the articles, knowing that the slide shows and videos are not printable. Lists of supplies and tips & hints should also be printable, strictly for convenience! Keeping a notebook to go along with the "show" (the magazine) would definitely be a help. I enjoy the paper magazines (QA and CPS) very much and can't imagine not having them "in hand" to look at over and over again. Thanks for all the great work on all your publications!

challenge prompts

I love the new magazine, but what I don't love is my inability to print out sections, like the challenges. I'd love to keep written copies of those as I work on them but have found no way to copy them. Any ideas?

First of all, let me say that this is (a) a fabulous idea, and (b) extremely well executed. I've subscribed to and read several emags and this one is the most functional and easy to read, even leaving aside the fantastic embedded content, which I've not seen before. You've sized it perfectly so that I can read it even on my small notebook screen. Having said all that, for some reason, I don't seem to be able to access the "Stitch Pantry" article with the rest of the emag. It doesn't highlight in the menu view, and when I click on it, it brings up a "save" dialog box. I was able to save it and open it separately as a PDF, but I don't think that's what you had in mind. I'm using a PC.

P.S. I'm impressed that Pokey is reading and commenting on the posts!

Wow--This is the coolest way to get a magazine ever. I always thought I would have to have the hard copy to go back to and see on my shelf--but who cares when you can have all these great artist actually showing you how to do techniques and projects. Then click on a link and see more about them or their subject, I am still blown away.

Great timing cause I have been at my daughters in upper New York and will be here for several weeks (she flies helocopters and will be leaving for Afganistan early Sept.). It is beautiful here but somewhat isolated. I am so glad I brought a machine and some handdyed fabrics, I will try to meet the challenges. I would love to see all the other magazines go emag - but I think with Quilting Arts I would want hardcover and emag. (Would that be a bit expensive???? But cutting edge.) Good job you guys, but if anyone was up to the challenge.............

new emag

I bought the new e-mag yesterday and downloaded it last night. It took about 30 minutes to download and Norton checked it out to make sure it was ok to run on my computer. After installation, the mag opened immediately and was so easy to navigate. I love being able to see a project actually being done and being told about it as it is worked on. This makes it seem like I am in a private class but I can go at my own speed, back it up and see a step repeated as many times as I need to. I really like this format and am so glad I bought it. It will definitely help get me started on those days when my creative muse seems to be on vacation.

Subscription question

I am quite fascinated by this concept. My question is this: when one pays the $14.95 is that just for the one issue? Or is it a year's subscription? Or monthly? I'm confused on just exactly what my money is buying, I guess.

I swore that i would never go this route! I don't really enjoy sitting at the computer to read, and i like being able to see the full spread of a magazine, but I am so intriqued by the electronic options of videos, close-ups, etc. Sitting at the computer and reading will never replace curling up on the couch and reading for me, but I definitely want to be open-minded enough to at least explore this new way of gathering information.
