Oh, Melissa! My daughter would say, and she'd be right, that this shape is full of win! I love the handwork you've done. I crave that kind of stitching coming out of my fingers but I don't think it will ever happen. I can live vicariously through beautiful objects like this, though. Well done!!

My blog
This little quitie was finally finished this morning with the addition of the ribbons which are tacked at the top and hang freely.
It includes a fabric transfer of a vintage image, machine embroidery on a Lutradur scrap; fibers and ribbons, and commercial fabric. 6.5" x 9". I'm planning to incorporate it into a larger work.
Denise, thank you for your nice comments but right back at you. I LOVE your mini quilt...such beautiful colors, patterns, and textures! I think the reason I love handwork is because I am intimidated by my sewing machine so I am envious of you and everyone else who does such wonderful machine quilting and embroidery. I'd love to see your finished quilt when you incorporate this into a larger piece.

"Full of "win"...what exactly does that mean? Even without knowing, I am pleased to hear it described that way! It just sounds like a good thing. Thank you for kind comments!
Hope you're starting to feel better, Belinda.
I love this challenge! All the work that's been posted is wonderful.
I made two pieces, using some fabric that I had previously painted and stamped.. Here's the first. I sketched it a sunflower, but it seems to have ended up looking more like a sun or a star. Oh well!
... And here's my second!

Melissa S. Commenting on your heart. So loving eash section of your heart. The details are fabulous!
denisemarie - nice use of the machine embroidery. I can see such detail!
JillB, I am getting better slowly. Thanks for asking. It looks like a sunflower to me. It is very organic. Love all the flowers and action going on in the background. The stitches give it a lot of motion. There is a lot of feeling to this flower.
Okay, "JILL" made me smile. Is the white paint or bleach? That so makes it due to the sharp contrast. The shapes are very organic to me and feels very "Jill" to me. Sounds like you had fun.
I defiinitely did have fun - glad it showed!
The white is the result of using glue gel resist before painting the fabric (as described in Quilting Arts Feb/March 2009) . It was really easy to use and I like the effect.
