This is a quilt I made in honor of the Marine Corps Aviation Cenntenial coming up next year. My husband is a US Marine Pilot and the spouses of his squadron raffled this off to raise some money so that they could do something special for the Marines at the Marine Corps Birhtday Ball this fall. Almost all the Marines had been deployed to the Horn of Africa, Pakistan/Egypt/Libya or Afghanistan throughout 2010 and early 2011. All the aircraft pictured have been or are currently flown by the USMC from 1912 to the present.
I chose a wool batting and stippling to give the quilt a 'fluffy' cloud feeling.
I'm not sure if this really falls under the title of 'art quilt' but I really wanted to share it here.
