I had seen an episode on quilting arts about using water colored pencils to draw and paint your quilt and then embroider outlines. I liked that idea and decided I would try it but I have questions. 1) is there special watercolor pencils for fabric (if so I can't find them)? and 2) is there something to put on it to help it set so it won't wash away when washing quilt? I would hate to do all that work and have it washed away.
Thanks
kara
hi kara
there is a book describing the method in detail. i am going on memory here - so the book would be better - but the pencils are not specifically for fabric - just water color pencils. and you are not gonna want to do this for a baby quilt or any quilt meant to be washed regularly (or at all). i think the book had a procedure for making the color more durable - but check the book. ckquilter
