My grandmother made me a lovely signature quilt for my wedding.  Since my divorce 10 years ago it has been in a tote in the basement.  I love the colors of the sashing she used between the signature blocks, but I don't want to look at those well-wishes that mention my ex.  Plus my grandmother made it and she is 90 and very important to me so I want to have the quilt out to remember her by.

Suggestions for the best way to cover up or cut out these signature blocks?  I'd rather not take the whole thing apart since my mother and aunts all helped grandma to hand quilt the thing.

Thanks!

I would applique over them!  Something to make the blocks more interesting?

I'd also put a label on the back indicating why you did that.  While unpleasant, it's part of your history, and this quilts.  Down the road, someone may wonder why you did that, who those people were, etc.
