I want to change my login name. If I cant' change it then I want to stop or remove my account. How can I do this?

because of a an auto-fill utility, i entered a log in name I don't want to use - but there seems to be no way to correct this. furthermore, when i went to "un-join" and cancel my membership so that i could start all over and re-join using my correct info, i found that no such option seems...
