  • photo transfer from a transparency

I want to try transferring photos by first printing them on a transparency. Does anyone know what kind of transparency works? I read in an article a while ago that the ones by Apollo work well, but that company makes several different kinds.

  • Funky Foam for Printing

Has anyone tried this? I know I didn't invent it. Funky Foam is the stuff you buy at Walmart for 4.99 for a large package of 50 or so sheets and cut into shapes. It has sticky stuff on the back and what I did was put it onto a foam plate and brayer acrylic paint over it to print on muslin. You can...

  • Re: Quilting or Threadpainting, one in the same or different....

Barb, your work is lovely!! Thanks for the link. I just borrowed a book from our local library and may want to get my own copy I enjoyed it so much... it's Ann Fahl's "Coloring with Thread". She makes a distinction between the two techniques you mention, noting that thread painting...

  • finishing a refashioned t-shirt

I posted a photo of a brown t-shirt in the Photo Gallery today. I like how it looks so far, but I think that it needs more done to it. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can add to it? I want to keep it so that it is machine washable and can go in the dryer so I don't want to add something like...

  • photos on fabric

HI there! I'm here for the first time but an avid mixed-media and art doll person. I am hoping someone has an answer for a design problem I have. I am a photographer and I love using my work in my fabric art but have not seen a way to seal the photos against moisture. I would like to put together...

  • Re: "Steam a Seam 2 and paintI

Hi Karen! If you go to Marcy Tilton's website she has a downloadable pdf preview of her "On the Surface" CD - on page 7 (of 13) her process of painting on fusible web is discussed a bit more fully. The URL is http://www.marcytilton.com/index.php?cid=129 . I found that this short excerpt...

  • Re: "Steam a Seam 2 and paintI

I was excited to try painting on Steam a Seam after reading this forum topic. I tried a little sample. I painted the SAS with metallic gold Lumiere paint and sandwiched it between a scrap piece of fabric and tulle (using my teflon pressing sheet of course!). Here's a picture. It turned out really...

Thank you for the reply- that's where I saw the wall hanging too. I loved it. Thank you for the link, it's exactly what I was looking for.

  • Re: Blog hosting sites?

I'm on blogger as well and I'm really pleased. I'm a fairly new blogger (since March) and it has been really easy to set up, edit and add gadgets as needed. Good luck with your project. My blog can be found at htttp://SewDanish.blogspot.com if you want to have a look. Birgitte

  • painting on fabric

I have a question. I am fairly new at art quilting and totally unexperienced with paint. What is the best way to use a shell as a "stamp"? I live close to the Gulf and have a collection of sea shells and drift wood native to the area, (and others bought). What I want to do is an all over surface...
