  • Re: Tsukineko Ink Playtime

Hi Elizabeth, You had questions about Tsukeneko inks? I love them. They run on most fabrics unless you mix them with Aloe Vera (from the drug store) When mixed with Aloe Vera they become water color like. It all depends on how much ink you put in the mix. I do faces mostly or shadows so I use a dipped...

  • Re: The Artist and the Internet

Hi Muppin, It has been a while since we were on the same blog. I have been a folk artist of some sort or another all my life and I have sold pieces in every endever except quilting. For me going commercial killed the creativity and fun for me and I would move on to something else. I give a lot of my...

  • Re: Do you feel confident in your quilts artistic merits?

Hi Caren, I spent several years feeling like a fish out of water. Some people said they liked what I did but didn't really appreciate it. 8 years ago we moved and I found quilting and quilting guilds. No body appreciates your work like guild sisters. Nobody challenges you like guild sisters. I still...

  • Re: Do you feel confident in your quilts artistic merits?

This is the story that I tell new quilters about being insecure in your abilities. Maybe it will help. It always helps me to remember art is in the eye of the beholder. My Star Dancer I was on my way to buy paint for my kitchen when I decided to stop in the fabric shop to see what was new. There was...

  • Is anybody going to the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara?

I have never been to this show but I am going next week. Sounds like fun even if it is the same time as the Huston show. I have friends with pieces in both. This one is closer to home. Have a wonderfully creative day whidbey

  • Do you have a new or good idea for Quilt guild fund raisers

Hi, Like many of you I belong to many quilt guilds. It seems that our main fund raisers are quilt shows and raffle quilts. We do hundreds of community quilts (chemo and children in peril ) and hundreds of quilts of honor ( quilts for wounded soldiers while they are in the hospitals) a year, These require...

  • Re: Printing with shaving cream question

Hi Peggy, I read directions that said use Tsukeneko inks with shaving cream. Of course they were put out by the Tsukeneko company. I haven't tried it and I am out of town so I can't find the information in my studio right now but their website might have it. good luck Whidbey

  • Re: This, here!

What an absolutely wonderful idea for kids. Like a giant flannel board of old. As a kid I would have loved that. Yea! another reason to hord scraps. I love it. Whidbey This was in response to the idea of giving kid scraps and a small design wall to play with. By the time I got it posted the conversation...
