  • Re: Tsukineko Ink Playtime

Hi Elizabeth, You had questions about Tsukeneko inks? I love them. They run on most fabrics unless you mix them with Aloe Vera (from the drug store) When mixed with Aloe Vera they become water color like. It all depends on how much ink you put in the mix. I do faces mostly or shadows so I use a dipped...

  • Re: Do you feel confident in your quilts artistic merits?

Hi Caren, I spent several years feeling like a fish out of water. Some people said they liked what I did but didn't really appreciate it. 8 years ago we moved and I found quilting and quilting guilds. No body appreciates your work like guild sisters. Nobody challenges you like guild sisters. I still...

  • Re: Do you feel confident in your quilts artistic merits?

This is the story that I tell new quilters about being insecure in your abilities. Maybe it will help. It always helps me to remember art is in the eye of the beholder. My Star Dancer I was on my way to buy paint for my kitchen when I decided to stop in the fabric shop to see what was new. There was...

  • Do you have a new or good idea for Quilt guild fund raisers

Hi, Like many of you I belong to many quilt guilds. It seems that our main fund raisers are quilt shows and raffle quilts. We do hundreds of community quilts (chemo and children in peril ) and hundreds of quilts of honor ( quilts for wounded soldiers while they are in the hospitals) a year, These require...

  • Re: Printing with shaving cream question

Hi Peggy, I read directions that said use Tsukeneko inks with shaving cream. Of course they were put out by the Tsukeneko company. I haven't tried it and I am out of town so I can't find the information in my studio right now but their website might have it. good luck Whidbey

  • Re: Who or what is your muse?

For the longest time I thought that I was the only one who understands a muse. I call mine MY QUILTING ANGELS. They take over my hands and mind and direct my projects. No matter what I had originally planned to do they have their way and once I learned to listen I found that they were always right ....

  • Re: Do you remember your first?

Hi You really asked two questions. When can you call yourself an artist and What was that one thing that you created with fabric that hooked you that made you never look back? I entered a photo of my first quilt on this website about a month ago. Basically it was 9/11/2001 and I had just moved here so...

  • Re: Tsukineko Ink Playtime

I love these inks. If you want to really controll them while you are working with them in details mix a few drops into Aloe Vera gel and they won't run. Let them dry and press and they will wash for ever without coming out. I use my artist brushes. It is most like water color. Drys lighter but you...
