I tried to use an old experiment of wax painting which I made few years ago - the piece of hand painted fabric stayed sad in a corner almost neglected, untill in a day when I decided to bring it to life.

Romance is a wallhanging made of dupioni silk backed with a cotton batting. It also consists of paper, clothpaper (hearts and the top Fluer de Le), acetate stampings and photo transfer, crystals ,wood, art yarn and other fibers, mother of pearl beads and painted canvas beads that were embellished with foiling and Tiny flat back crystals. All was sewn by hand except top trangle was done with some free motion embroideryand hand sewing,a stamping in acrylic paint and more art yarns for the fringe. I will add a couple closer pics, I am new to this

Wrapped each wood triangle with fabric, inked the edges to see if it would make it look more like tiles than before. It did. Seems to make the colors pop more. Husband cut the tiles and framed it. It has fun surprises in it. A dictionary page on creativity is one of the tiles. "Diamonds." stones, yarn and ribbons. In the center is a sky with a cloud, and a tiny horse from my husbands HO scale train lay out.

My husband cut the wood tiles, I covered them in fabric. We put in several surprises to pull people in. Polymer clay, jewelry, beads, stones, metal bits, a plastic hand. He then built the frame for it. It looks like a traditional Jacob's Ladder quilt, but there is absolutely no sewing involved, I found a way to combine my love of fabric and mosaic.

The squares are 1" and the triangles are 2" 1/2 sq. triangles. : )

Wow, I am wrapped with how this turned out. Lots of different mediums used for this project. I actually dyed some of the cloths I worked with, I sparyed Glimmer Mist all over them, OMG I am in love with how the colours turns out... amazing!

Printed out my designs on canvas, glimmer misted, stamped, stitched, then bound everything together with sitches.

I just finished yet another purse this time with a nautical theme. I will be posting two more closeup photos showing the embellishments and the beautiful silver frame. Again I worked with men's neck ties and was thrilled to find the center one with the little painted fisherman on it, perfect for my purse! It's also completely lined with navy blue satin and the back fabric is a burgundy brocade. Oh boy, now I can start on another purse!

My Bridesmaid Purse

I found some beautiful creamy satin brocade and the pink flowers with beads nestled in the centers just seemed to bloom all down the front of this purse. I also did the looped beaded fringe by hand. Arrgggg, it's not my favorite thing to do but I think it adds a lovely touch to this purse.

Black satin, a hummingbird and 3D Fuchsia's stitched onto a lovely antique purse frame, oh what a lovely combination! Boy I sure had fun with this one. I am very proud of how beautiful it turned out.

When I grow tired of quilting I usually reach for my antique purse frames and let my imagination go wild! The body of the purses are constructed on my sewing machine and are fully lined with equally yummy silk or satin fabric, but the embellishments, silk ribbon embroidery, and beading are almost all done by hand. No two are exactly alike. i certainly consider these pieces works of art as most of them hang on my walls in my bedroom until it's time for a night on the town! I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. I'll post more purses that I have made so enjoy the show.

I took the photos while in Cleveland to visit the "Vatican" display they had up at the circle and we stopped to see the gardens also. I printed the images to fabric I prepared my self with Jet Set and printed on my Epson Stylus Photo R320. After giving them a rinse in Jet Set Rinse and letting them dry I worked on choosing fabric from my stash that would bring out the colors. I desided on the fabric and then figured out just how to set the pictures. After the top was completed I emblished with beads and then quilted with some of my decorative stitches and thread painted with some of the wonderful varagated threads and used a water soluable stablizer under the thread painting. I hope you all enjoy one of my attempts at an art quilt. Nancy

Experimental piece. Base hand made felt (wet method). Tyvek, shreaded, knitted and crochet coloured with liquid acrylic, heat zapped, stitched in place. machine embroidered, hand embroidery and beads applied. The tassel I think is a waste of space and spoils the whole piece. Further images and the inspiration page from my sketchbook are on my profile page.
