I just finished yet another purse this time with a nautical theme. I will be posting two more closeup photos showing the embellishments and the beautiful silver frame. Again I worked with men's neck ties and was thrilled to find the center one with the little painted fisherman on it, perfect for my purse! It's also completely lined with navy blue satin and the back fabric is a burgundy brocade. Oh boy, now I can start on another purse!

My Bridesmaid Purse

I found some beautiful creamy satin brocade and the pink flowers with beads nestled in the centers just seemed to bloom all down the front of this purse. I also did the looped beaded fringe by hand. Arrgggg, it's not my favorite thing to do but I think it adds a lovely touch to this purse.

Black satin, a hummingbird and 3D Fuchsia's stitched onto a lovely antique purse frame, oh what a lovely combination! Boy I sure had fun with this one. I am very proud of how beautiful it turned out.

Please enjoy the closeup of the ribbon work on my wedding purse. I am self taught and I did not work from a pattern or a kit. I am blessed with the images of what I want to do on a piece and I can usually replicate what is in my mind's eye to my project.

My Wedding Purse

When I couldn't find the purse of my dreams I decided to make one. Believe it or not, this is the very first purse of this type I made and I was thrilled with the results. ALL the silk ribbon flowers work and beading was done my hand. I will post another closeup photo of the flower work. In the mean time enjoy the show!

When I grow tired of quilting I usually reach for my antique purse frames and let my imagination go wild! The body of the purses are constructed on my sewing machine and are fully lined with equally yummy silk or satin fabric, but the embellishments, silk ribbon embroidery, and beading are almost all done by hand. No two are exactly alike. i certainly consider these pieces works of art as most of them hang on my walls in my bedroom until it's time for a night on the town! I'd love to hear your feedback and comments. I'll post more purses that I have made so enjoy the show.

Venus: Midnight Bloom 3

Select digitaly altered handmade ATC print onto 8"x10" silk sheet, layered with white organza and black tulle then free motioned stitched. Flower centers are made with peltex and a fancy fabric then beaded with bronze Toho beads. Silver metallic cord is needlelaced onto the background, leaves, stems and vines are cotton pearl zigged zagged stitched down over appliqued organza. Silk ribbon embroidered flower petals and silver 3mm metal beads finish this piece.
