Another in my Hoodoo series, this piece so far is 25" tall, and "in the round". Hand dyed base fabric, bead and stitch manipulated shapes with copper, attached with more beads.
I love this! I love the organic feel of the "Hoodoo" you can imagin so many natural elements to it! How long did it take you to make?
Thank you for the kind words!
It's still be worked on :} Doing all the shapes initially takes about 45 minutes to an hour and a quarter depending on how "involved" the shaping and beading is, stitching them onto the totem base is fast, but i have been working on this piece on and off for about 3 moths at least.
Holy cow, how cool is that?!?
Thanks Sweetie :}
I just LOVE the visual texture! It really stimulates my imagination and helps be to think about possible stories that you could write about the piece! I feel that is the what Art and Textile Art is suppose to do imagin and dream....You have taught me something about my own work as well, to incorporate more texture in my work to invoke creativity. I hope that you are not stopping at just one? MAKE MORE!
Thanks again S :} There are more 3d Hoodoos being worked on but they are all different. However, i will be using these shapes elsewhere in this series as well.
If i can't have texture in what i do, i don't see the point! :} Fabric by definition is tactile, but flat is boring!
Very cool! So much texture to see and explore in your Hoodoos!
The textures are amazing.
