ginko leaves as a symbol of resistance

Used Pebeo setacolor paintings for the background and batik fabrics for the leaves. Raw edge appliqué, free motion stitching for the leaves and the background. The ginko leaves stand for the symbol of resistance in the turmoil of life, a very strong family concept.This 5" square is part of the 40 I sew for my daughter's birthday.

One for each year I assume? Love this one - I am fascinated by ginko leaves, and by poppy seedpods, and was planning to incorporate both into a future project...
