Fiber Postcard

I was inspired by Belinda Spiwack's post with her postcard challenge to make this postcard to mail to my friend that recently had bypass surgery.  I used hand-dyed cheesecloth on batik fabric, stitched down paper and silk flowers, and stamped "Friends" onto fabric.

I love this, and the dyed scrim is wonderful. Is that a satin stich running through it or is it couched fibers of some sort?

Love the idea - this forum (and the magazine, which my husband and daugher got me a subscription for for mother's day)  is very inspiring and push you to stretch your limits and try new things. And now you have inspired me! I think I'll give the cheesecloth dying and the silk flowers a shot as well!

The stitching on the cheesecloth is a "fancy" stitch on my machine that is small loops, I used a bright neon green thread and just stitched randomly to hold the cheesecloth down and add another texture.
