I loved making this piece - all the little pieces of fabric held in place with fabric backing and washaway on top. Lots of free motion stitching on top. Its was interesting to see how much remained after lightly washing it. I had to add a couple more pieces where I had missed with the tread. I then cut lots of little poppies and hand stiched on poppies with small french knots. :-))

Adorable. I'm a huge fan of proudly displaying frayed edges, and I love the idea of creating something (like this lovely little art quilt) and then gently destroying it (by washing it). It creates a faded, soft texture that can't easily be mimicked with other techniques.

I love this piece and the softness of it. I'm not familiar with "washaway" .......what is that?
