I did this quilt portrait of my daughter from a picture. I used pastels, inks, and fabric paint on muslin for her portrait. I cut small pieces of different colored tulle and scattered them throughout the background.

I cut dragonflies, a butterfly, and flowers from printed fabric, and appliqued them. Next I covered the entire piece with a sparking teal tulle, and on top of that, I added a pink seed beed for her earring. I used metallic thread on top to stitch the top, cotton batting and backing together. I made a mat from fabric green fabric with ivy print , and bought a beautiful frame to finish it off.

This is really lovely. I love how you interpreted the portrait so it's a bit abstracted. Beautifully executed!
