Longhorn and calf

This is one of my first art quilts done spring, 2009.  I started with several photos of our longhorns, placed background fabric on a backing, stitched through a black and white photo of the longhorn, tore off the photo, then started placing fabric.  I then thread sketched the details.   Finally, I added batting and a backing and machine quilted, then put on a binding.  After looking at it for some time, I added some shadows with markers.  It is 8.5x11.

This is such a sweet scene. It reminds me of the cows I I used to see in Scotland.
