I chose a magpie to represent my inner animal because I find shiny, glittery, feathery, and bright objects almost irresistible. I covet all shiny objects and want to collect and keep them for myself. I don't consider an art quilt finished until a shiny object winks back at me.

This piece is raw edge applique on a commercial hand dyed background, heavily free motion quilted, and hand beaded with tiny glass beads in the tree canopy. Some of the baubles in the angelina fiber nest are from old necklaces from my Grandmother, and the sequin eye is also from an old piece of Grandmas jewelry.

I hope you will consider this offering for your challenge and I thank you for the opportunity to create and display my inner animal.
