"Bobcat at Heart"
My inner animal is the bobcat. The small quilt for this challenge is a whimsical rendition of a bobcat in a tree based on a true childhood experience. The design is made from a picture of a bobcat which I morphed with a picture of my face, although the bobcat features strongly came through as I worked on the main image with thread painting and free-motion quilting. I added the raw edge appliqué tree branch and leaves. I love the look of the bobcat in the wild. I have seen how swiftly they run with a fast free stride. They are not easily intimidated and do not always run away when confronted. These small and wild cats are beautiful with a mix of fur colors and shades, from beige to brown with spotted or lined markings in dark brown or black. The tufted fur at the tips of their ears and sides of the faces are very distinctive. Bobcats belong to the Lynx family of felines.
