Crazy Colored Kitty
My inner animal is definitely a cat but as an artist it would have to be a crazy rainbow kitty! The qualities I love in cats- independence, quirkiness and a sense of fun are things I like to cultivate in my own character!
Draw the cat and color with colored pencils. Add a 1/4" black border and cut out. Use white wire for the whiskers. Paint 2 pieces of muslin- one with white and the other with black gesso. Cut the black piece in a funky shape as shown. Cut the white piece to 8.5" by 11". Draw a checkerboard border and color with colored pencils. Color wool felt in rainbow colors for the batting. Cut V shapes in the white squares on the checkerboard piece and sew to batting, outlining each square. Add the black muslin shape and quilt in concentric lines following the shape. Punch holes in the black border of the cat drawing and tie to the quilt top with black floss. Bind the edges of each colored square with a satin stitch.
