Suzanne,  I love your created yellow tree.  Have you considered whacking off the other side of the piece producing the suggestion of a banner?  Or do you have more of the fabric in the windows that you would make some leaves from and add them as an applique in that corner?

How about round off both  the lower corners.  Repeating the curves in the "u's of your printing.

One of my teachers planned to enter a competition, but realized that her piece was too small for the required size.  She quilted a second piece and bound them together at the top only and let the 2 pieces hang together loosely.  The corner could be a continuation of the black with subtle beading or incorporate a window piece, or date, or a word, initials.  I personally would do the beading.  Very elegant piece: don't do too much more to it other than fill-in the square.  I also like the idea of a banner look and perhaps in that case adding a subtle beaded fringe to the bottom.  Can't wait to see what you do!!!

Your  trees are quite beautiful!  The words below though seem to overpower them and draw the eye away from the windows.  I think they are too large for the size of the windows ......... I could be wrong though..........what do others think ?

I love the trees through the window concept and execution, but I do find the printing a  bit overwhelming  - very bold in contrast to a very gentle tree view. that being said, I love the print face and the saying itself. Is there any way to make it more subtle?

My idea is a little off the wall (but that's me). In colors echoing what's already in the trees, put the suggestion of a pillow and blanket/quilt at the bottom (a bed post would be too much). The cut out angle made me think immediately of one of those wedge-type pillows or a foot under a bed covering.

I would also be inclined to add some dark colored beading to the lettering. Laying strip of a squared bead along thick portions of the lettering (like 1/3 in from edge) would calm it down color-wise and add a bit of spark to it.

Hi Suzanne, Have just seen your beautiful piece.  If you haven't already done something, I would add my suggestion that you trim the black edges to the same width as the centre window frame to lessen the impact of the black and draw the eye back to the gorgeous tree. If there isn't enough fabric to trim equally under the text, could you applique the piece onto a blue background with just a narrow strip showing?
