Last year I vsited St remy and spent time painting in Van Gogh's footsteps.I decided to try a quilt after finding Quilting arts magazine also, I was inspired by a piece of fabric with swirly blue sky just like Van Gogh painted his skies.I used silk and cotton fabrics and thread painted/machine quilted the fields and hand embroidered parts. the stars were swirls of knitting wool which added some texture.I painted the village scene on muslin and slip stitched  the scene along with trees. Also a used a string of tiny bugle beads along the horizon for sparkle. This is my first quilt.

What a challenge for your first quilt... very unique.
