Quilt inspired by the incredible art in the children's book, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters, an African Cinderella story.

The right edge I just hemmed the shapes I had cut out of the feature fabric.  The leave were each constructed and quilted then attached free and floppy from the quilt.  The figure's dress is also loosely attached.  The bird in the upper left corner was pre-pieced then applied and forms that edge of the quilt.  I drew my own shadow for the head and went from there.  The joy of creativity on this piece was not having to follow a pattern...whatever way I wanted to make it work was 'right'!
