What a great challenge! I'm dusting off my ancient sewing machine and setting up for this, my first quilting challenge! What a great joy to be invited into such a great group of quilting artists, Humbly, Jo Ann Graham
Jo Ann,
Glad to hear you're excited about the challenge! We can't wait to see the entries. Good luck!
I want a 440 QE so bad I can feel it & hear it running & know it would take my quilting to a different level. The opportunity to WIN one?! OUTSTANDING!! Thank you, the wheels are turning. If I produce a quilt from this image, it has already taken my quilting to a new level!
VintageToni,
We hope you'll participate! This is going to be one fun challenge...
Yeah! I just sent in my entry. These Quilting Arts challenges are a blessing because they provide the motivation to actually finish a project.Wish me luck because my Bernina 930 (from the 80's) is still a great machine, but needs to rest sometimes.
Oh my, I don't usually do challenges because there are so many out there who have been designing longer than I... But I am learning to use PE Design 8 and this would be a great incentive for me to try my new knowledge in digitizing and stitching! I am excited to get started!

I love a challenge! & the freedom to work in mixed media. What fun! Sharon
I must have one of the first Bernina 830's they ever made. My husband bought it for me about 40 years ago and it is the best present I ever received. I have used only this machine for all my sewing during this many years and think it may be time for a new one (although it came with a 50 year warrenty and is still working impecably, just without all the new bells and whistles )
I of course would hold on to my original as a backup as I am forever attached to this machine. Being a designer it has seen many a stitch. Here's hoping
So you accept entries from Australia?
I am having trouble opening this file on my computer. Any ideas?
Never mind; I got it!
I have only recently branced out to art quilting from traditional quilting and I can honeslty say that all the inspiration came from Quilting Arts magazine. I am sooooooo excited about this challenge and my mind is buzzing with ideas. I have a very old Bernina and a new one would be such a wonderful treat. Thanks for so much inspiration Pokey.
Sincerely, Annette Burston
I got all excited - downloaded the picture and sparking ideas here ther and everywhere; I then read open to US residents only - what a shame!!!!
My daughter and quilter-in-training, Lindsay, sent me the notice on this challenge...Looking forward to trying some new thread painting techniques on this one!
I have been sewing and making things all my life but do not know what they are refering to when it says a "sleave" on the back of a quilt. Can someone tell me what it is suppose to be?
If I may answer Jellico's question regarding quilt "sleeve": A quilt sleeve is a 2 inch or more strip of fabric that is sewn on the back top of the quilt to serve as a casing through which a rod can be threaded for the purpose of hanging and displaying the quilt on the wall. I usually sew mine along with the border and sew the casing on the backing only so that the stitches do not show in front of the quilt.
Hi All,
I had such fun working on this competition. I'm having trouble uploading the 2nd and 3rd detail shots. Any advise?

Hi
I am brand new to all this quilting art. I love Pokey and her show!! What fun crafty techniques.
I was looking at the beautiful swans already submitted and I would like to try my hand at finishing one before the deadline.
Can someone explain why people feel the red/white swan should be disqualified? It looks like she may have stolen someone's design. I would like to learn more about how to avoid this. Is the photo of the swan something that i can copy?
Looking forward to a run to my favorite online store!! JJ
this is a picture of what gives me inspiration. to make a 14 by 11 inch quilt
