Cowpen daisies and fall calf

I was inspired by the impressionistic quilt of red poppies which appeared in this gallery.  However, my base material was 70 weight pellon.  I applied small pieces of fabric to the pellon, trapped them with tulle and used invisible thread to nail it all down.  The sky is very special to me.  I used long strips of white organdy and small pieces of light blue batik.  The longhorn cow and calf were made as thread painting on osnaburg, cut out then appliqued onto the picture.  I used polyester embroidery thread to add the details to the background trees, foreground tree and the flowers and grasses.  Finally, I wrapped the picture around a stretched canvas which is 11" X 14".

Hi Debbie, I love your long horns. Is this what spring and summer look like where you are. It is a very nice theme to use, those long horns. I hope you keep doing them.

Hi, Meta.  Yes this is what summer looks like when we get lots of rain!  I love our longhorn cattle.  I'm always inspired to create when I see them especially the cows and calves.
