Challenge: Flavor of the Month

 

Title: "Done Just Right"

September is marshmallow month in our family because it is when we go camping. And...what is camping without roasted marshmallows? The kids gather their own wood sticks and the few marshmallows, not popped into their mouths, are skewered to be roasted. Inevitably, the debate starts ... how to cook a marshmallow.  I love them burned; my two sons compete to see how many browned skins they can slide off of one marshmallow; and my husband likes it browned to swallow in one bite.

That is amazing it looks like real marshmellows roasting in a fire.  What a great job!  What are the marshmellows made of?

How did you achieve the coals and the bumps on the marshmallows, Diane Marie? Are they just quilted? Or Tyvek?

YIKES!!!   This is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!  This is the type of art that makes you want to touch it because it is so textural.  Oh, and I want to smell it and taste it too!!    Your work is inspiring.  The ashen wood in the fire is phenomenal!!  Thank you for sharing your gift.  My humble efforts and contributions to this art form pale in comparison.  Your work and those of this quilting arts community have truly inspired me to continue to grow and learn to express myself in this medium.

This is a fantastically realistic piece. I love it. How did you attach the silk roving? I see no stitches holding it in place. Will you sell a pattern and instructions? So many techniques to perfect -- do I see trapunto on top of trapunto in the marshmallows?
