In my artquilt  "Stiltwalker"  I made a Japanese lantern for the lady. It was the inspiration for this quilt. A big lantern with lots of fireflies. How I love to see these creatures in my garden!

Made of silk and handdyed cotton for the lantern. The fireflies are machine embroided and dyed with golden Paintstick.

Just beautiful!  I love the look of heavily quilting.  We  use the expression "quilted to within an inch of it's life".   I wonder if the artist could have got the same effect useing beads for the fireflies, would they sparkle as much?  I've never seen a firefly so I can't tell.  Silvie.Aust.

I love this! I want to have made this! The texture in the background in fabulous and the glow coming from the lantern is beautiful. Stunning!
