Handmade paper cloth, photo transfer on organza, acrylic and watercolor paints, gel pens, machine stitched. This piece is inspired by the continuing escalation of the war in Afghanistan. My heart goes out to the families who have lost a loved one there. The title is from a line in the song, Where Have All The Flowers Gone?, by Peter, Paul and Mary.

This is beautiful and very sad.  It brought tears to my eyes.

Oh Mary,  thank you for your coment but Im sorry you had tears. I was a young adult during the Viet Nam war. My brother was there for 4 years and still carries that war with him today. I visited the Viet Nam memorial in Washington, DC and cried like a baby. War is ugly. War is sad. So many wonderful, brave young people that need our prayers for their safety and admiration for their courage.

Lana,  My brother was there also.  It was a very difficult time for all of us.  The "Wall" breaks a persons heart.  My son retired from the navy recently after 20 years of service.  I thank God for his return and my prayers go out for all those military families.  I suppose that is why your lovely work touched me so.  Thank you.

I like the way you placed the three soldiers from large to small. It gives the idea of movement.
