Driftwood

This was created after a workshop with Laura Cater-Woods. Using the small piece of driftwood as inspiration I began with the central piece of fabric in the shape of the driftwood. I began to use various hand dyed silks and batiks to evoke a tidal pool where the driftwood might be found . I decided to keep the shape of the piece very free-form and fluid like the water.

After piecing this together I used free motion embroidery over the entire piece. Added a very few amount of seed beeds and used a piece of dyed cheesecloth to wrap around the driftwood and secure it to the center.
