The fabric painting that is the base for this whole cloth quilt is done from several photos I took of "Sitting Bull Fall" in south-eastern New Mexico. It was one of the pieces done while I was taking "Painted Landscapes" from Michele Scott at Quilt University. The painting sat for over a year before I quilted it.

It was painted with Setacolor transparent paint and Tsukineko Inks, accented with permanent makers. The grass in the foreground/border was threadpainted on sheer fabric and attached after the border was sewn.

I enjoyed working on this piece, it was a fun challenge. It all so was awarded a Blue Ribbon at the Eastern New Mexico State Fair 2010 last week.
