I'd like to know the story behind the inspiration for this quilt.  I love the way  the pink turned out, is the blue made of the same fabric or  of stronger stuff. I'd really to know.    Silvie,

Hi Silvana,

Thanks for your comment. I started out with a piece of handdyed fabric. I thought it looked like the sky either at sunset or sunrise. I work very intuitively. I used some colback for the first time. It is a metal-like fabric that you can melt.  I used a piece of dark blue commercial fabric and pieced it together. I quilted the piece with invisible thread and rubbed paintstik all over it. The towers are sketched again in an intuitively way. As I made this around 9/11 this year I think I might have been influenced by that. It is as if the towers are standing against a sky, coloured by fire. I hope I've answered your question!

I love the simplicty of the design and the limited palette. Great contrast between the horizontal lines of quilitng, and the vertical lines of the towers.
