I created this quilt based on a photo I took of my son Ryan just before he began a career in firefighting.  His hair and beard are now quite short!  The quilt is machine appliquéd using a small zigzag stitch and I used a fusible web.

I would love some feedback!  Thanks!

This is a very interesting portrait.  I love the idea of doing grey and black on a coloured background.  Thanks.

Very nice portrait!! Did you use green for the eyes?

Thank you!

Ryan's eyes are green but I used a deeper green in the quilt for emphasis.

I love the contrast between the foreground and background.  It grabs your eyes.  The portrait looks great!

I love this portrait quilt - such character and expression captured in fiber.  The hair and the way you executed it adds so much interest to the piece also. Hope you do more portraits.
