This back was inspired by my husband who is a Melville scholar. It was embroidered to pay homage to the great author. I used the only 4 portraits that I could find of Melville. My husband gave me his favorite quotations. The flap is an image of Melville's ship. This bag is quite large and has withstood many trips to foreign countries.
