This quilt is based on the dog's owner's favorite photograph.  I trace and draw the design, enlarge it and copy it onto freezer paper. I select fabrics to reflect the various colors and textures of the dog.  I applique and reverse applique the pieces together. For highlights, I do a bit of thread painting. The owner says Gertie has a Scooby-Doo aspect to her personality, something she said I caught in the portrait, and which delighted her.  It's important to me to reflect the spirit of the dog, so I am pleased when the dog's owner thinks I succeeded, as that person knows the dog better than anyone.

This is amazing!  And, I'm not even a dog person.  Exceptional!

For sure, I'd say you succeeded... definitely a bit of a clown... but in a nice way as only a dog can be... :)

Beautifully done... love the tongue and the eyes...
