A hand painted silk art quilt, with applique and thread work. Submitted by Barbara Harms.
Incredible quilting of the clouds. Paint me green with envy! :?}
This art work is stunning !!! What kind of batting did you use ? All the quilting in the sky, water and mountains have so much depth.
Thanks for the kind words all.
Anne, used Legacy 50% cotten %0% slick Poly. I got it from EE Schenck on a 12 yard bolt.
the shading is great , wow
I admire anyone who can capture water in a realistic fashion, like you did. How did you create the moon light reflection on the water? Is it painted, or did you integrate metallic threads? I find the effect stunning! What are the dimensions of this piece?
I painted the water fand reflections f irst, using several different colors of paint.Then thread painted after. I used again several different colors of thread and I did use some metallics very spareingly. The size is rather large 41 X 30. I used the quilting to create the reflection lines as well.
Exquisite use of qulting and threads to create movement in the water and the sparkling sky. Would love to see some details of the water and sky.
you created such a magic atmosphere in this quilt, does it also glow at night?
I have detailed photos on my blog www. asianartandquilts.com/
Stunning! How does one manage to rate something a 5 stars out of 5 stars around here. Honestly, I tried... grrrr! :)
It's a painting alright... a beautiful painting with fabric and stitch. Wonderful!
Thank you so much for your nice comments. I apprecite it very much, coming from experienced quilt artists like you all.
I wanted to comment on one that hasn't received any but yours is too gorgeous not to say anything. Wow!
Very intense and lovely!
Your art is just AMAZING !!!! I don;t know which one like the best as they are sooooo amazing, I will choose the Starry Night because I love the deep colours and the calm feel, but they all are equally great work .
