Crocus by Dale Anne Potter

This 6 inch piece is glued to a canvas that was first painted black.  The fabric is hand-dyed by Dale Anne Potter, the crocus was first sketched lightly with pencil, then sketched with thread on sewing machine. Then Derwent Inktense pencils were used to colour the sketch, wet with brush, dried and heat set with iron before thread painted by sewing machine and then free motion quilted.

The intense maching quilting in the background really sets off the flower. Even though this is a small piece, I'd love to see a detail shot especially on the leaves and flower petals.
