Along Our River

This 18"x23" quilt was made for our quilt guild challenge, Along the River. The river needed to enter on the left side and exit on the right side of the quilt so I chose the Hudson River as it meanders through our area of the lower Adirondacks. I enlarged a map of the river and used it to arrange the river,  mark the roads for quilting, and locate a few of the landmarks. The quilt is made with fused pieces of fabric, hand dyed and commercial (including the blue fabric we were required to include), covered with tulle and quilted. French knots were added for trees. The landmarks were made using photos that were transferred onto painted Lutradur with TAP.  You can find me at www.upstatelisa.blogspot.com for more quilting fun!

I love looking out the window when I fly and imagining the lives of the people below. This captures the scene wonderfully. Nice job :)

I like the satelite photo feel of this - checking the river, crop land, how the farms lie.

Oh, and hellow from the western side of the state!

What a wonderful use of the constraints of the project. You put a lot of work into this.
