Lauren: "I took a 5 day class from Janet Fogg up in
Sisters, Oregon. I made a large quilt in the class. Also, I have been taking a
class from Jean Wells. We meet one Saturday a month. It's a design class also
up in Sisters, Oregon. Good thing I only live 2 hours west of Sisters. I took a
little from Janet's class and some from Jean's class. Put them together and had
hoped to quilt it. Maybe even add some beads and more."
Susan: "There is so much going on in this design. It's
filled with starts and stops causing confusion. Each element appears to be
fighting for attention and disconnected from the others. I can't see where the owner
of this UFO wanted to go in their design. I was not sure where I wanted to go
with the piece when I first started working on it. The first step was to take
apart each layer until I could find a starting point. I was fortunate that the
fusible behind the tree and leaves had lost most of its adhesive. I wondered
about the use of denim in the piecing and put its future use in the back of my
mind. Once the piece was down to its individual elements. I could see I liked
each of them separately. The original concept and the elements had great
potential. With rearranging, piecing an additional log cabin block and seeing
the striped pieces together, I could see a vision for how to use the denim."
