My photograph was accepted to be showcased in Houston for the International Quilt Festival,
November 3-6, 2011! The theme is Eye of the Quilter: Friendship. My
photograph is called Statue of Liberty: Friendship Between Two Nations.
Today is The Statue of Liberty's 125th birthday. She was a gift
from France on October 28th, 1886. It signifies "the Alliance of the
two Nations in achieving the Independence of the United States and
attests their abiding friendship".
The photograph is an image of
my quilt made with 1/4 inch strips and squares. It took me 20 hours to
fuse the strips to a background. As it hangs on my wall it looks like a
tapestry. It was made especially for the exhibition.
