This large commissioned art quilt, 50.5"W x 32"T (128.5cm W x 81 cm T) is based on a full size mill wheel embedded in the client’s two story chimney. The striking stonework compelled me to include it as the focal point in this composition. Outside, there’s a small frog pond which is a favorite of hers, so it was great, good fun to search for frog buttons and beads on eBay. Lace and metallic treasures helped to create the feel of light sparkling across the surface of the water. I am particularly pleased with the way this piece looks when sidelit, as the vast array of textures can be seen at their optimal. Her house is surrounded by lovely, extensive landscaping which this piece tries to emulate. So, now the client has nature inside and outside of her house.
