This is a fabric portrait I made for my dad's 85th birthday. It's from a photo of him when he was 9 years old, posing with his dog, Jack. I've always loved the photo and thought it would make a wonderful quilt art gift for his birthday. It is all done in fabric and thread, not a painted portrait. (I did use dots of white paint in the eyes.) The original photo was black and white but I thought sepia tones would give an aged look and be interesting.
