"The Sleeping Lady" is a mountain in Alaska. The body of water is the Cook Inlet. The fireweed flowers grow profusely in Alaska. I brought this quilt to life with batiks, and poplins and a hand painted sky fabric. The fireweed is embellished with lots of tiny seed beads for the tops of the stamens. I was inspired to make this quilt from a commission piece for a lady in Alaska. I created her quilt with her guidance....and then created my quilt using the same theme. The quilts are totally different....a fun exercise.
